“Squirt’’amazing smells of citrus filled the air as I split open my dark orange tangelo, the sticky juice dribbling down the back of my hand. Slowly peeling away the bumpy skin to reveal the luscious fruit inside. I pulled of one of the segments and bit in half, juice running off my chin. It tasted as sweet as a strawberry. Eating them one by one making them last as long as I could, when I finished I wanted more, wishing I could eat them for ever and . . . I can, we have a tangelo tree at home.
Our class was learning to write a piece of descriptive writing about some tangelos that our teacher bought in. We had to write about what they looked like, smelled like, tasted like, sounded like and what they felt like. On this piece of writing I was focusing on good use of adjectives describing the four senses. I used similes, onomatopoeia and adjectives. I think I need to work on alliteration and metaphors.
